The hull has many combinations and thicknesses of materials as you move from the sheer to the keel and the bow to the stern, some with a core and some without. But when the materials are infused with resin, it all happens at once. To understand how the resin will transit these various combinations of materials Lyman-Morse builds a test panel on a glass "mold". When they infuse the test panel they can time the advance of the resin on both sides. If necessary they can adjust their process to ensure that the resin properly saturates all the materials before they cut off the flow of resin at a particular height. In the case of New Morning it advanced essentially equally and no adjustment was necessary.
